The new love of my life

I flew to Bloemfontein at 06:00 this morning to pick up my new bike I left Bloemfontein at 9:05 and arrived in Cape Town at 17:15 on the new love of my life. No words to describe her. The answer to all my problems. The RT is a great bike but it was murder on my back, (after the operation) it just cannot drive at slow speeds as smoothly as the GT can. I am required to do so daily thanks to the cages. The GT pulls smoothly from 10km/h in second gear and from 40km/h in fourth gear. There were so many suicides on the way back I had to wash her immediately. Here she is, she is not SILVER, she is a lady-like CRYSTAL GREY to match my beard. She actually changes colour in the sun and sometimes looks a bit PINK!!! PS Charles I deleted my thumbnail and added a new one, but the old one keeps coming back My new K1200GTMy new K1200GT

Hi William, I hope you love your thumbnail as much as your new bike. ;)

Chris, I delete the old one and add a new one and the old one comes back, I have done it 10 times, with different names too. The RT just won't leave me, even after the divorce and re-marriage.

One thing I am not too sure about yet, she sounds very "Far Eastern".

Lovely bike - congrats. As Padlangs says, your new thumbnail is working. You need to hold the ctl key while clicking the 'Refresh' button on your browser, on a page where the old thumbnail is being displayed.

Hi William We are seriously looking at getting either the RT or the 1200GT. In fact we are test riding both this weekend. Can you give any advice as to why you went for the GT other than the backache? Anyone else got a comment? I also see you got your bike in Bloemfontein, any particular reason? Thanks

Very smart William. There's nought better than buying a new vehicle and having to do a long road trip. May you have many safe and troublefree miles together. I'd suggest you have the VPS protection done on the bike. Will save all those little nicks and scratches. Will be having my new bike done as well. Cheers Lawrence Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safetly in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadsides, loudly proclaiming WOW, What a RIDE!

Chris It is a long story, I bought the RT because I wanted a Boxer, that was all I knew from when I had the 500, 750 and 1000 a long time ago. The K does not sound the same. The old straight six M3 and M5 were very good, the new V8's and V10's have already won awards - technology? I will never know why BMW did not go for a flat 4. Go compare, the power on the GT is so much smoother, so are the handle bars, no more numb hands, the torque is way superior, 40km/h in fourth and it pulls smoothly. I do not need the extra power, I wanted smoothness that you will never get from a twin. If a GT had been available to test drive I would NEVER EVER have bought the RT. Once you hit the open road you almost never change gears on the GT. I did over 100,000km's on boxers. Including lots of 1000+km trips. The 1000km trip in under 8 hours on the K convinced me. Phone me if you want 083 444 2626. There is NO comparison. It just does not sound like a BMW, neither does any other non-boxer BMW
