Navigator 5

I dropped and broke the touch screen on my Navigator 5 GPS.  Its the glass behind the clear plastic screen that has shattered and according to BMW the only option is to replace the device as the screen isn't repairable.  This is hard to believe. Can anyone offer some advice on whether it is or isn't repairable.  Thanks, Mike

Mike,

I transplanted a new screen nto my GPS when that happened.

Gave it a new life.

If anyone on this forum has a broken navigator, or knows of someone who has one now longer working, you may be able to scavenge the screen off it.

It's not open heart surgery,, just requires a bit of care and diligence.

I'd be happy to do it for you if you manage to locate a donor screen or you can  import a new screen.

Ask your friend Google where to get it from.

This is also an option to buy new.

I can sort of understand why BMW would say replace it as they wouldn't stock this kind of thing or have anyone to install it.

But it's not rocket science.

I sourced a part off eBay UK for £35 and repaired it.  Works like a charm.  Thanks to everyonr for their inputs into resolving this problem.  I saved myself about R9k.
