Explore the OVERBERG and come and join us at the Napier Patatfees!

We are proud to celebrate our 23rd Napier Patatfees during the weekend of 16-19 June 2016 : Youth Day till Fathers' Day.

We’d love it if there’s a bunch of bikers that want to come and join us.........the Overberg has some amazing dirt roads and easy riding to explore the are. Arniston, Struisbaai, Agulhas...the De Hoop Nature Reserve, Malgas Pont ...........roads to Riviersonderend and more..... Napier is a great place to use as a base .....come try it out!

Accomodation:

Camping facilities will be available for those adventurous to use their tents..the local Cricket field will be made available and they are busy renovating the bathroom and shower facilities at the moment.

Cost of the camping for the whole weekend would be a meagre R150.00 per person ...

(depending on numbers – we’d look at putting up a Marquee tent for the biker visitors, but would have to then split the cost between the campers)

We have also been told that the Hostel in Napier would be available for those not wanting to rough it in a tent – I’m waiting for “number of beds available and cost” and will post this info as soon as I have it!

Alternatively....check out http://www.napierpatatfees.co.za/napieraccommodation.htm

Very important are the two special days – Youth and Father’s day – we’d be asking those attending to bring some extra ATGATT and helmets......as we hope to treat some of the kids to a ride on either the Friday or Saturday (Indemnity forms will be available)......... there’s also a kids go-cart-race planned with home-made carts....through the streets of Napier and we’d be keen for some of the bikers to act as Marshals with reflective vests. Also anyone that could loan us a Chequered flag that could be used for the event...?

SO IF INTERESTED.....PLEASE could we start a list of who would be keen to join us here.... or send me an email - peter@tourbikebits.com

Some info on the event:

Did you know Napier was once the sweet potato growing capital of South Africa?

To celebrate this humble yet versatile vegetable, we have named our annual festival, which incorporates both the Napier Half-marathon and a mountain bike race, in honour of it.

The scarecrows along our streets will welcome visitors for this fun filled weekend, fine cuisine can be sampled in the numerous restaurants, outstanding wines of the Overberg estates can be tasted and there will be fun events for the youth.

Highlights last year were:

• Half Marathon

  (21,1 km, 10km run & 4km Fun Run)

• Mountain Bike Race

• Veteran tractor & Vintage car show

• Harley Davidson Motorcycle show

• Craft Markets

• Live Music

• "Lang Arm Dans"

• Kids entertainment

• Wine tastings

• Local Goats milk products

• Potjiekos competition

• Fresh produce including Sweet Potatoes

• Mardi Gras

• Stalls

and more...!

Expect a healthy dose of small town charm and plenty of hospitality.

Napier will surprise you!
