So lucky to live in Cape Town!

I went on a ride with a couple of colleagues from work last Sunday, Jo’burg to Clarens. What a boring ride 650 K’s thru the Free State, Long straight roads with many many potholes, or should I say craters. No kidding one was so big I could have parked my bike in it. Dodging the potholes became a way of overcoming the boredom. No wonder loads of accidents up there, hit one of those holes and it will rip your tyre apart. Going thru the small towns on the way you can’t but sigh at the garbage left in the streets, Hoeibron was the worst.

Clarens was packed with weekend and day trippers from Jo’burg. The last time I was there was 20 years ago it was just a quaint little village. What a change, far too many people.

Also, went thru the Golden Gate Park, great scenery, twisty road but it ended so soon.  Because of the state of the roads we decided to come back via the highway, R71.00 from Harrismith to Jo’burg. The diesel oil is so thick when you come to the toll booths; it’s like riding on a skating rink. One guy went down as he put his foot out, bike just slid away from him. No one gives a crap.

The guy on the Harley got a real sore butt and his arms grew by about 20 cm cause of the drag, still moaning a week later. I told him to buy a decent bike and get rid of the moffie thing!

We agreed to do the Barberton, Sabie run next time, hopefully, not so boring.
