Good day

I have a GS 1200R 2005 love my bike but I'm bit short for it and looking for info on a lowering kit, is it a good option to lower the GS will it affect my handling once lowered.

Has anyone here lowered a GS and are you happy??

Regards

Tony

Hi Tony

Have you tried the lowered seat?  It is possible to have your seat shaved for a few hundred rand and this makes a big difference without altering the bike geometry.

The typical bike lowering kit involves using a different length of link in the swingarm suspension linkage.  Since the GS does not have a rear linkage, I am not sure how a lowering kit might work - maybe a shorter rear shock.

Unless you also do something with the forks, the bike geometry will be altered with usually deleterious effects on handling (i.e. have it done professionally).  In any case there will be changes to the bike's capabilities (lower ground clearance, less suspension travel etc).

By far the cheapest and least invasive is lowering/shaving the seat.

Denver Biggs, aka Bling King, in JHB, has probably lowered over 60 GS/A's, he would be a good person to talk too, and get the facts. Cheers Chris
