Hi Annie, Would be interresting to know what happens to the written-off bikes. For example, a 1200GS with 5000km's on the ODO was recently written off. Maybe it is worthwhile to find out from the BMW insurance how these cases are "closed". regards Jaco

A compny Bobs Salvage or something like that used to get the BMW insurance write offs, but I hear they may have lost the contract. You can call BMW insurance on 011 5417545 and ask, I am pretty sure they should have no problem giving the info. Other insurance companies may have other companies they sends there writeoffs to. I RIDE THEREFORE I AM!

Hi Louis I have an 05 R12GS, +/- 5000ks, end over end prang but motor is fine. I purchased it a couple of months ago with the same intentions......aircraft installation. However time is a problem for me and I already fly a perfectly good 912S Bushbaby. Make me an offer. Rick

I visited Loiuis recently and he has a 1200GS motor on his bench which is having the exhaust manifold shaped to allow the same axhaust to fit closer in. He got the motor from the guy Dave Higgs put him onto who buys the scrapped bikes. Looks like our next Dassies fontein breakfast run we'll be joined by A FLYING BMW 1200GS Andyman Yup that's me.
