03/03/2018 – Looking for gravel
Seeing that we are planning a Lesotho trip in April the need to “get the Gravel legs out” had me looking at some local gravel routes on Saturday morning. As this was a very spur of the moment ride I was going to go solo.
I threw the Dustriders hoist on the back – just 4 in case! Fortunately not needed on the day. Some ice-cold water in the top box and a energy bar if I needed that and the preparation was complete.
Thanks to Warren Ellwood for organizing yet another fun, eventful quarry day. I was riding for most of the day but when I wasn't, I captured some of the photographs below

I have arranged with my farmer friends with the old quarry in the Kalbaskraal area to take another group of club members to their farm where you can spend the morning practicing whatever you want across the varied terrain on offer there. The mornings practice has been arranged for 10 November.
This is your opportunity to brush up on anything you feel you need to without the pressure of getting to a destination or convoy riding, very relaxed and all in your own time.

I have arranged with my friends with the private quarry in the Kalbaskraal area to take the second group of club members to their farm where we will spend the day practicing different exercises with cones or just riding across the varied terrain on offer there.
A fun day in a quarry near Cape Town where one can practise many cone drills and ride all day if you want to build your confidence and get to know your bike.
Warren and Natalie invited Julie and I to ride on a friend of their's farm near Kalbaskraal. This is Julie's first trip of any kind riding her own bike (Betsy a Honda CRF 230 F).
We met in Richwood and set off over conterman's kloof.
