The Old Post Route starring Postman Pat - now with plenty pictures and video just added!!

The first time you do the Old post Route, it’s an adventure, the second time you do it, you’re just plain stupid, that’s how someone described it on Saturday night. But I have a suspicion, when we do it again one day, that person will be there, probably first in the queue.

If you could think of a place where you could experience just about every surface an adventure biker could experience, this would be it, and we certainly experienced just about every single weather condition as well on top of that.

BMW MCC Cape - The Old Post Route and the Wuppertal Route all in one weekend - 30 November to 2 December.

I, and quite a few other people I know of, have wanted to ride the Old Postal Route which runs between the Biedouw Valley and Elandsvlei near the R355 for some time now and so here it is, but with a slight twist because for a variety of reasons we will use the Biedouw Valley and the farm Mertenhof as a base camp for the weekend, meaning you will ride the route in both directions.

To join us you will need a couple of hours off work on the Friday as we intend to go up to the Biedouw on Friday afternoon (we are aiming to leave by 15H00 at the very latest), so we get to stay for two nig

Flower Time!!! BMWMCC Cape overnight, off road ride to the beautiful Biedouw Valley.

For a few short weeks every year, when the conditions are good, the Biedouw valley outside Clan William becomes one of the most beautiful places anyone could possibly visit in the whole of South Africa.

At the end of winter, this remote valley with its amazing views, beauty and peace and quiet, is transformed as millions and millions of flowers make their appearance, creating a colour filled spectacle that everyone should at least see once in their life time.

Biedouw Valley & surrounds - August 2008

Not really a long trip report, just a few words about our few days spent in one of our favorite places. My wife and I took some of our annual leave in early August and as we hosted a 4x4 flower tour in the Biedouw Valley for three days at the start of it, we trailered the bikes with us and stayed on for 4 days afterwards exploring the area on the bikes. It was Natalie's first proper contineous off road experience and I reckon she did very well. Even she is not sure what all the fuss was about. She took to it like a duck to water. We were there at the height of the flower season and it was absolutely stunning, it's got to be one of the prettiest places to ride motorcycles around.
