ARRANGEMENTS FOR THE TRAINING SESSION ON SUNDAY 19 FEB:

The day is intended to be a fun day with a Level 1 Group and a TWO Level 2 Groups

Remember it's all intended to be a fun learning experience and there should be no need for stress.  No need to do anything you feel is above your  level of comfort.

Cost will be R200 per person for the day.

The venue is a farm in Stellenbosch.  Rather than have everyone trying to find the farm, we'll all meet at Donford at 0830 on Sunday morning where you can fill up with fuel if you need to, and have a cup of coffee while we wait.

I shall be bringing water to drink, tools and puncture repair kits, but bring a few sandwiches and cooldrinks for a picnic lunch at midday.  After the training those that want to can join us at Beuena Vista Cafe nearby for a review of the day's events.

Level 2 for me please.

There are so many problems in this world. Luckily there's a wristband available for almost all of them.

Hi Pete, would the course content be roughly the same as the two workshops held in Stellenbosch for the ladies?

Where are you planning on doing the training?

ciao

Excuse my ignorance, but would you mind giving more info on the exact nature of the training? I've never attended club training before (or any other training for that matter) and would like to know what I'll be letting myself in for before saying "I do"...

Hi PeterO,

I assume this is only open for paid-up club members? I'm a member but my wife is not. Still trying to convince her....

I think she can benefit by this level 1 training seeing as there is quite a few ladies attending. The training with men could be a bit intimidating.

please let me know? I have done similar training through Country Trax.

Pete, Any open spaces still left for level 1?

Two of my riding buddies are also keen to join.

Problem is:

  • None are club members
  • One rides a 1200 GSA, the other a KTM 990

1. dorp st

2. cnr of R44 and Webers Valley road

Dorp St is the WRONG address ... the correct one is on the R44.  On the left as you ride from Stellenbosch towards Somerset West.   Just after the Technopark

No problem.  They are welcome to join.  The Level1 isn't full at all.

Hi Pete

The Medallion Cycle funride is taking place in Stellenbosch on Sunday, and the short route starts at 08h00-08h45 - route goes right past Donfords. This will not affect anyone coming from the Annandale road/Somerset West side, but anyone coming from Kuilsrivier and/or Durbanville and/or Helshoogte will be affected. Will PM you with the cycle route details; perhaps another meeting place would work better.

Thanks Karin; too short notice I'm afraid.

Unfortunately I have been contacted by some riders who are away this week and wanted to know before they left, where we would be meeting.  I'm not in contact with them and they don't have access to internet, so they are expecting to meet at Donfords, and also to fill up there if needs be.

We'll have to just leave home earlier and wait for those who don't see this notice, if they are a little late.

So to ensure there is no confusion, everyone leave home a bit earlier WE ARE STILL MEETING AT DONFORDS!

Cheers & Thanks Karin

Pete

To all who helped plan and organise todays training and then coaxed us over and through the various exercises and obstacles..... THANK YOU ! It was hot, but once again the confidence levels grew and we overcame new challenges.

I'm stoked Laughing

This was the hottest training day I've ever experienced!

All the 25l of water was finished as well as every other ounce of fluid that we took with us, but the guys didn't want to go home!  (They also didn't go to the loo!!!)

Carried on jumping logs, battling sand and going up and down dam walls till late!

Very impressed with the spirit and the levels of confidence of everyone by the end of the day!

Thanks John Carr and Arno for helping out and a huge thanks to Attie, not only for letting me use the farm, but also for setting up all the obstacles, mowing the maze, digging ditches and putting poles down for jumping.  Very grateful!

I’m beginning to run out of superlatives when thanking people who organise club activities for us.  We had such a fantastic day yesterday, organised by Pete and most ably assisted by John and Arno.  There was something for everyone and we all learnt something new.  There were plenty of thrills, spills and laughs.  Our instructors, John and Arno, are true gentleman, enthusiastic, helpful and never judgemental.

We all met Attie, the farmer who has so very kindly allowed us to use his land.  What a fantastic chap who just couldn’t contain himself….laying out the obstacle course, helping out with the instruction and picking up bikes all day.  His demonstration of sand riding on his milk crate equipped Vuka had us all cheering and feeling much better about the dreaded sand monster.

Wendy and I arrived home tired, hot, sweaty and very happy after having spent a truly memorable day in the company of great people.  We are glad that we finally gave in and decided to join this awesome club.

Nearly forgot to mention Mike from Donford who got up early on a Sunday morning to open up the dealership so that he could give us free coffee and muffins….unbelievable.

Really had a blast and got sooooo much confidence back...... we forget, but it's the small things, that meke the big things possible.

Thanx to all.

Fantastic Training!

What an absolutely FUN day of training we were privileged to take part in!

The day started off with us enjoying coffee and muffins at Donford (Thanks Mike, your barista skills are impressive). Excitement was running high as I think we were all pretty nervous about the challenges we were going to be facing for the day.

When John & Arno described the activities for the day I was thinking, ‘Oh boy, what have I signed myself up for?!’, but our instructors did a great job at explaining the science behind the instruction, and making everyone feel comfortable and confident in what we were doing.

I can honestly say that this was THE funnest training I have ever received, and even though my muscles are aching this morning, I’m smiling from ear to ear when I think of those logs, ditches and sand that we cleared!

Thanks Pete, for organising everything, Attie for your generosity and enthusiasm, and to John and Arno for your patience and excellent training!
