My whole taillight is cracked and loose and does not hold the bulb properly. Does anybody know where I can get an LED taillight assembly of sorts to replace it? I don't want a substitute LED bulb (saw one at Linex Yamaha) because the part that holds the bulb is broken. I want to replace the whole light. I am also thinking of putting some spots on the front of Brenda Buttercup. Being a rough biker, I am thinking along the lines of those LED torches with 4 or more LEDs, mounted just inside the fairing.

Bike Hospital: Not keen - I am looking for an LED tail light that I can jimmy onto my funduro, to replace the old-fashioned globe on mine. Surely a place in Cape Town has suitable generic ones that I could use to make a plan? Graigs in Maitland: whereabouts is it? Is the name correct? regards Charles

I only paid R15k for Brenda Buttercup - don't want to get too expensive for the sake of a pretty tail light. Want something generic and '''cheap'''. Otherwise I must put it together myself. Must admint the X-challenge light is nice though...

You are quite right of course. I realised the error of my ways a while ago, and got Shane to fit a new, proper taillight. It cost about R300, which means I couldn't save much by getting a cheapie. Also: * Brenda loves Shane's skillful way and his rugged Springbok rugby player looks, and * Women are very particular about how their derriere looks. I am still looking to buy her some bling for a necklace - maybe make up some led spots from some torches. Accident statistics from the US show most motorcycle collisions are with cars turning in front of them. Visibility from the front is the most important safety factor on a bike. Johan - you got spots that aren't too fancy? regards Charles

Charles, those cars that turn in front of bikes are in two groups: 1) those that just do not bother to "look". 2) Those that do look. Even if somebody uses their mirrors a bike is "just another white light". When you do have an amber light, you are MUCH more visible (for those that do bother to look). Have you looked at the "yellow/amber" headlight that William spoke about? I would like to know where he got it, and if it is available for my bike? I recently bought an amber strobe light - still to be fitted.

Hi padlangs this is a very interesting piont I would also like to put one on. Do you know if it is legal ? not that it matters if it saves accidents

My son's ZZR400 has the front indicator lights on (steady, not flashing), all the time. These provide some orange light and improved noticeability. When you indicate, they turn off and the indicators do their flashing thing as normal. This might be an easy-to-do software adjustment in the new computer-driven bikes. For a classic like Brenda, a bit of fiddling and a relay switch might do the trick. Personally, I don't like having less light in the dark, so would maybe go for '''extra''' orange spots, not cover the headlamp. regards Charles
