LED Lights

Hi all,

I've just bought myself a set of Extreme Light LED'S which I was hoping to get my regular bike shop to fit but they tell me that they can't because my bike is still under warranty and that I either need to take it to the dealer or an auto electrician that knows there way around BMW'S.

Any advice on who I could try would be much appreciated as my mechanical skills are somewhat limited. If it is of any relevance the lights are to go onto a 1200 GS LC.

Thanks

George, please check with BMW before you have these lights installed.

There is a possibility that it could nullify your warranty in the event of a claim and if so cost you a packet and a bucket full of unnecessary tears should something go wrong.

You have been warned!!!!!!!

Why would fitting "non BMW" spots influence your warranty?

If you are connecting them to the bike's electronics (which I am quite sure you can't), then I can understand that it may have an effect on your warranty.

If you are however wiring them totally independently (wiring, relays, switches, etc) and finally connecting them to the battery, then surely this should not influence your warranty?!

I am not sure Dudley as I do not work for them. but I do know that various "aftermarket items/tyres" etc if not approved by BMW can nullify the warranty.

The warranty can be voided by using non-approved tyres, so connection to the bike electronics is a moot point.  Basically BMW do not want you to risk the bike's integrity - which is why they have selected the stuff they know will work (from their trading partners or contacts on the golf course).
