I know I'm opening a can of worms but I need some opinions on tyre choice for the 1200LC, the OEM Anakees have not lasted well. I dont forsee doing more than the occasional dirt road (good) and will mostly be on tar, and a few track days.

so....

Hi Max

My 2c:

I squeezed 11 000km out of my Anakee 3's from new on my GSA LC.

They did a 4500km round trip through Namibia and saw more gravel than tar most it's life.  I replaced them because of 7 plugs that I inserted throughout the Namibia trip, otherwise they would probably have lasted another 3000 km (based on tread left).  I really think had it been a cheaper brand of "slick" tyre, I probably would've shredded the tyre to pieces looking at where I rode.

If I was doing more tar than dirt, I'd probably stick to Anakee 3's or Metzeler Tourance Next (Don't have experience with Tourance Next).

Replaced my Anakees with Heidenau, because I wanted a more gravel orientated tyre with the benefit of not replacing them every 5000 km. Whether they're the best is up for another debate I suppose.

Hi,

Been a bit of a tire slut over the last year and personally, I love the Tourance Next as road rubber. Grippy as hell and great in the wet. Not sure what milage you can get if you squeeze as I rotate too frequently. Anakee has been great for the lighter offroading I have done and more recently I slapped a Pirelli Scorpion on the front with Anakee 3 on the back. Gave me great traction in more technical stuff with pillion.

Did 1000km odd trip last week with the missus on the back and the only weather we didn't hit was snow on all types of terrain and the mix was great, even through that little torrential downpour we experienced.

Looking forward to testing out the Capra range soon.
