Hi Everyone,
Our members are making good progress with registration on the new website with already 25% done. If you still need to do so please see a repeat of the details below:-
We are very excited to announce the launch of our new website for members of the BMW Motorrad Club Cape and trust that you too will like the new and fresh look. To give us the opportunity to update all the information of our members we have chosen to request all our active members to re-register on the new site and shall be pleased if you will do so by taking the following steps:-
https://motorradclubcape.bmwclubs.africa/
Please give us some feedback on your first impressions and do not hesitate to contact me if you have any difficulty with the registration process. The old website will be run in parallel for a while but we will be closing the old site in a short while.
Best wishes to you all for 2020 and we look forward to another active and eventful year.
Kind regards

Thank you David ... looking good so far.
Thanks David,
I was surprised to receive a mail with all my personal details on it though (Id number, Doctor, medical etc). I can't see that sending this particular data serves any reasonable purpose that outweighs the risk of doing so.
I'd been in two minds about entering it on your new system. As a frequent lone-rider, I'd thought that the club having the info in case of emergency slightly outweighed the risk.
Had I known it would be mailed back to me I would not have done that.
Please consider not sending personal data on email.
Clear-text SMTP mail is not secure - you have no idea how many down-stream mail agents are intercepting it. You may think that sending out via Twilio/SendGrid is reasonably secure - but their privacy statement makes clear they can use the communication content "to provide services to you and to carry out necessary functions of our business as a communications service provider" - which is a pretty broad statement.
Thanks Kevin - this was valuable. Our webmaster has made an amendment to the system to do away with the email confirmation of the personal information.
Am I correct in deducting one needs to be a paid up member to be able to surf the new website unlike the old one?
