One of the members on the Wild Dogs came across an incident in which a lady riding a Dakar was killed. She was aparantly side swiped and was killed on impact with a lampost. Once again, ANOTHER HIT AND RUN! Our member took some photo's of the bike. http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=10484.0 If anyone know's who this was, my deepest condolensces to them and their family. Lawrence

Lawrence What happened to the rider in your incident? Has she been caught and brought to book? I have noticed on the last few trips that there are more and more drunk drivers on the road. Obviously drunk. They swerve all over, don't see obstacles, and drive like idiots. On return from the West Coast trip last weekend a car overtook me on the left on the yellow line and squeezed in between my bike and the car in front (I was about 1,5 car lengths behind a whole line of cars behind a truck). What angered me was that I was carrying Julie pillion, and this jerk gained nothing other than endangering my life. regards Charles

To the family and friends our deepest sympathy. Ride the highways in the sky without fear for there are no idiots there. Bum in the saddle, always.

Think before you ink.

Trust is the most valuable asset.

I have the rest of my life to get old.

Charles, This incenses me so that I want to bring these other cases to court when they have my hearing. An example must be made of the woman that took me out and the consequences given national coverage. GR, thanks for the additional input, I hope we can make some form of gesture to this riders family. This is a terrible experience for a family to live through. The anguish it gave Theresa when I called her, while lying in the road, is something I never want to do to her again. Lawrence

There are far too many incidents happening like this, and close to home too, with Lawrence's experience, and he was relatively lucky. We need to be aware of all other vehicles on the road, and be visible. Terribly sad this latest one, and sympathy to the family and friends.
