Anyone been to Krom Rivier in Cederberg? I tried to get into Sanddrif, but they're fully booked for the night I want. Any other campsites in the area you can recommend?

There are quite a few campsites round there Cloud, they are on my Tracks for Africa at home. Will have a look tonight and give you some names tomorrow.

I took a posistion from Krom Rivier and "found" accomodation within 20 km. Cederberg Oasis Nuwerus campsite Driehoek Campsite Mount Ceder Kuilcamp site If you want I have a whole list of cottages for hire, but it sounds like you want to camp. You can Google these you should come up with something. Also, not that far from this area is the Biedouw Valley, past Wupperthal where you will always find camping at Mertenhof. If you need those details, give me a shout.

Thanks Warren i've got a map of the Cederberg, and all the campsites you mentioned. I was just wondering if anybody had actually been there to tell me what it's like.

The Cederberg Oasis is very nice. And they have cold beer.

Hi Cloud. Recently we rode the Cederberg Experience 3 Day Stage race (mountain bike) from the Sand Drift camp-site. Not too sure of the name, but it really is a fantastic site to camp. All the facilities are great and a river to relax and swim in to boot. Highly recommendable.

Dwarsrivier and Sandriff are actually the same place. Dwars is the house/chalet section and sanddrif the camp site. Both are fully booked for next week. Thanks for the info Warren, will check out cederberg oasis as it is en route to Krom Rivier (which was referred to me by the people at Dwarsrivier)

Actually not Steve - You drive past Sandriver and turn down into another valley to get to Dwarsriver - From the main farmhouse where the winery is - sand drif is further up and you turn down to your left - Dwars is even further along and you turn down to the right - it is a few k's before stadsaal caves. Fro your comment they may be running a joint booking system now - if so that would be fairly recent. If you happen to be there on a saturday night go back to the main farmhouse - just past and going up the right is an observatory that is run by UCt - well worth a visit - they put all the telescopes out and generally have a great presentation as well.

Aah, excellent thanks Tristan. Do they sell wood/charcaol? More importantly do they sell beer?

Stayed at Driehoek 2 years ago.Just as you decent from Uitkyk pass on the left.(midway between Algeria and Sanddrif.Next to the river with shaded camping spots and basic wooden cabins. Not as popular as Krom-or Dwarsrivier(quiet)with easy hiking to the arch. They also had coffee shop run by the farmer's daugthers.

I'll do more than that if she's hot - I'll bring her back to civilization.
