Jane`s bike after riding in gravel on it`s side.Jane`s bike after riding in gravel on it`s side.Jane on the way back from Montagu on the Koo ride of the 26 Dec displayed a slight lack of skill and took her bike off-road in the Franshoek Pass, this time however on it`s side. My thanks to all who helped. She is fine a bit sore and bruised, and taking Arnica!

Might be informative to show some photos of Janes kit. Bike broken, Jane bruised - a good case for not wearing shorts and t-shirt!

If you can dream it you can do it!

Will speak to her, I ride mostly in BMW vented kit, but if told I was going to come off on tar on next ride I would dress in leather before departing!

Hi Niel, somehow I felt guilty for speeding ahead and tempting Jane to follow. I'm so glad that not more happened. I think that she is a good rider and mistakes can happen to anyone of us. It is always a risk to speed and who ever does it (I am one of them) must be aware of it. Have a good new year and all the best to Jane.

Wolf I was concerned that you may feel that way, but PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT;Jane and I had spoken both before the ride and during at lunch, the error was entirely hers and the fortunate thing was how, where, and with whom it happened. Jane and I wish you and your family everything of the best in the year ahead.Hope to see you soon,I`m going on a ride to....I dont know where yet, suprise myself!

Skill on a bike is like pilot error in a plane - buck stops here in MY saddle! ... but we BMW riders do have the ABS safety net for those days when we are not as sharp as we should be.

If you can dream it you can do it!

I'm glad to hear Jane didn't suffer any injuries which were hidden by adrenalin. In my accident, I asked to be helped to my feet to walk to the pavement, all the while, both ankles were sprained and my knees weren't capable of lifting me. Adrenalin is both a good and a bad thing. I was pleased that Jane lay relaxed for the time that she did before confirming that she was alright. I truly had a lump in my throat knowing just how painful an experience like this can be. Jane's leather's bore the brunt but survived intact, testament to the manufacturers skill. Neil, I was wearing cordura and, despite the phenomenal beating I took while tumbling, I had one spot where my elbow was exposed due to me having taken the liner out and the armour moving. So although leather is the obvious choice, don't discount cordura wear. just don't buy cheap stuff where the seams are likely to disintegrate on impact. Get in touch with Cliff as he has some contacts in the panelbeating game who could possibly do some work on Jane's plastic bits. Warmest wishes to you both and see you on a ride soon. Lawrence Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safetly in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadsides, loudly proclaiming WOW, What a RIDE!

SPEED KILLS !!!! This is not a race all the time and we need to take care in what we do on these DANGEROUS machines !!! It is called an accident because that is what it is, no one purposely through themselves of a bike. Jane is a skilled rider and has got more and bigger "canoungas" as most male members of the club and this site, we are lucky that this was not a "serious or fatal" accident !! Jane - hope you get better soon, we are fond of you and am glad that things "under the circumstances" turned out OK, take easy and ALL PLEASE REMEMBER - Keep it SAFE !!!
