Parking under a shade tree during the next 8 weeks or so will result in some awful sticky stuff being deposited on your painted and polished surfaces. This is not sap from the tree but an excretion by the aphids that feed on the sap. It's commonly called honeydew but I doubt that it tastes anything like honey and I ain't taking any chances with trying it.

Removal is always difficult and if the stuff is left to harden it becomes almost impossible to remove.  I find that Polycell water-based Brush Cleaner works well if you tackle the problem early. A little of the cleaner on a cloth and a gentle rub followed by a rinse with cold water seems to do the trick with no damage. I have heard that prolonged contact of the brush cleaner with aluminium will stain the aluminium so a quick rinse is probably the way to go.
