Hi Guys I am back in SA at last and have my new bike. After having a good look, I decided that I prefer the S to the ST. I got it on Wed and it is already more than halfway to its first service! Most of the 600km's were done on Faure Marine Drive. I have noticed that the BMW riders do not greet me (except for one F650GS...), but a VFR800 and a Hyabusa did. Is this because it does not look like a BM should? ;-) It has already been christened the drastic, plastic Bavarian Canary! As soon as it is run in and serviced, I hope to join you on a ride. If the commeraderie online is anything to go by... :-) Cheers FrankF800SF800SF800SaF800Sa

Looking forward to seeing it "in the flesh"! You will definitely enjoy the crowd that join the breakfast runs and rides - friendly bunch, even if you don't owe them money! :-) ''The world needs dreamers that DO!''

Welcome back Frank, Nice hotty you got there. Hope you have many many happy, safe kilos on the bike. Yeah, maybe the guys don' recognise the breed as you approach, but Gordon's Bay is known for BM bikers not greeting anyway, so don't take offence. You chose a nice bit of road to run her in on. Get that 1000k service behind you and let her run. See you on the road. Enjoy the ride Andyman Yup that's me. Standing up in the traffic on the 1150GSA.

Nice one Frank - congratulations. Come ride past me - I'll greet anything on two wheels. But I do make extra effort for BMs and you are right that sometimes it is hard to recognize the non-boxers. The other day I gunned past Dave Higgs riding the 800GS, who had specifically slowed down so I could catch up and see the new bike. I was admiring the bike ahead of me wondering what/who it was until I passed.

Welcome Frank. That is such an awesome bike. If I rode a road-bike it would probably be that one. Enjoy it!
There are so many problems in this world. Luckily there's a wristband available for almost all of them.

That's a nice bike Freak! ;-) And like the 1150GS, yellow is the ONLY colour for this bike. 8)

Hi Guys Thanks for all the great comments. Sorry for the late reply, but I don't have internet at home at the moment. As of this morning the bike has 915km and I had to get off it as I need 90km's to get to Hamman Motorrad from Kleinmond. I am taking it in for its first service tomorrow morning, a week to the day since I got it. Gareth at Hamman said it does not take long to run in a F800s and he was right! :-) I will be at the track on Saturday, but alas with my car as I have to attend a do on Sat night and lift some peoples. BUT, I will see you with the bike on Sunday morning! Looking forward to that. Cheers Frank

Does everyone in this club have names for their bikes? I named a couple of my older cars (they seem to have more character), but never a bike. I have told the non-bikers I know to stop calling my beauty a plastic canary! The only other suggestion I got was 'Gifappeltjie' She did not say if it was 'Kerrie' or 'Borrie', but I can't decide which idea I like the least. Why is it always women coming up with these kind of suggestions? ;-) Any ideas? Maybe I should just ride the thing!

You could always call it a 'Granny Smith' - that would fit in with the Gifappeltjie idea ;) Although - I'd definitely pass there :P What about 'Blitz', following the German military manouver of BlitzKrieg as well as the English translation to Lightning?

It might be yellow, very yellow, but Mellow it ain't ! ;-) In the old days, black cars sometimes had the same shade of yellow on the sides and it was called acid yellow. That made me think of acid (as in LSD) and a trip. But what about those bad trips? :-)
