I just returned from the course that was presented at Nelson's Creek by Leon and Lourens. What a great thing to do. Everything was perfect, the place, the people and the training. I strongly recommend this to everybody, unless you are already a master in tight turns, clutch control, standing position, emergency braking (including locking the front wheel on purpose !!!!!) etc. The self confidence gained is huge. Cheers Kobus

Ok, John, so you were the one with the Canon. Thanks for the pics. Photography is my other hoby and I am keen to figure out how to mix the two. I assume if you have CS3 on a mac that you must also be reasonably serious about photography. Where about are you from. Kobus

Hi Kobus, I'm from CT, live in the Southern Suburbs, yes I had the little Canon Powershot, I left the SLR at home as the little guy was easier to carry. I do have a Mac & CS3....how did you work that out? Photography is one of my hobbies and I do some for work too

Thanks Kobus n John for the feedback and pics. Great investment you made. Nice mix of bikes on the course too. I did the course in April, a month after getting my 1150GSA and I just grew in leaps n bounds after learning what the bike and I are capable of. Now you need to get off on a road trip on dirt and really you have to concsiously try to employ those skiils or you will lose them. They do not all come back easily or quickly and so you must make opportunity to practice what you learned as soon as possible to ensure the course value is fully appreciated. I was only able to remember to do the stuff bit by bit, but it eventually becomes 2nd nature and then only you know the true value of the course Andyman Yup that's me. Kobus, I shoot with a small Pentax Optio 3mega pixel and a Hewlitt Packard HP35- 7 mega pixel. Like many riders I prefer slung short around my neck in front of me, pouch unzipped. I'm always shooting on the hoof as well as stopping for better serious shots where I consider light angles, perspectives, picture composition and foreground/background subject material. On dirt roads, dust is a major risk hazard to the lense gearing and I've had to have professional repairs once already. However, most of the off-tar biking shots are muk-n-druk as time/circumstance allows. My star ring photos are always great and I've experimented with foreground shadow exposure during the main exposure with a hooded flash to bring foreground material up in relief. Star rings in the karooStar rings in the karoo The Karoo is just grat for star rings. I use the Pentax Mv1 reflex with shutter cable release on B setting for the time exposures for star rings. Pooped is not the word, I am fairly fit and I rode home at 80kmph, then tried to ride around a track near my house on Sunday and my forearms said...."what the hell are you doing"

Wanneer is die volgende intro offroad course - aangesien ek (en dalk 'n paar ander) nie hierdie kon maak nie? Die kursus was vol, wat beteken dat daar ander belangstellendes ook was - ek is spyt dat ek hierdie een gemis het.

Yeah, I'd also like to know how he figured that out. I can't find any metadata on those images to give me a clue.
There are so many problems in this world. Luckily there's a wristband available for almost all of them.

Use Opanda Exifviewer. A free download from here. http://www.opanda.com/ Right-click on the picture and you can see all the meta/exif data. In this case you must open the picture in another window as it is only a thumbnail showing. Kobus
