Hi I'm hoping someone can advise me: i want to re-chrome my mirrors and stems of my 1981 R65. i found a place in cape town called Lusinco electroplating. they say I'll have to remove the glass mirrors myself before they will chrome it. Can i remove the glass and rubbers myself? Is it easy? Is it advisable or not? Thanks Chris

See http://www.bmwmotorcycleclubcape.co.za/electroplating-powder-coating I must say that the chrome done by Metallica did not last very long - big chunks of it has peeled off the brake lever. In the end, I could not reassemble my mirrors neatly. The cruiser mirrors are plastic, and I had to break them to get it open. It did not glue back together very well. If yours are metal, they might be more robust. My mirror stems came out very nicely. I'm looking for a place to do my exhaust headers... please let me know how you find Lusinco.

hi Charlatan Thnx for the reply. In my search, I spoke to a guy called Martin 021 551 8844 whose company seems to specialise in building shock absorbers, but also does chroming. He was very helpful. So maybe give him a ring? I'll let you know about Lusinco. My other option is to buy two new ones, about R400 from the UK (a friend will bring it over for me). Maybe that's less trouble? Cheers C.
