Yesterday whilst out riding round about the Misverstand dam area on his Honda Ian traversed a patch of potclay and fell. He has fractured his left leg and will go into surgery to day between 13-00 to 15-00 hours. The pain releivers are not affording much relief. Ian is in the Blaawberg Medi Clinic.

Think before you ink.

Strongs. Not nice, but that is biking. You win some, you lose some. :-) The best learning school is to learn from your own faults.

Ian, via Rene Sorry about the misfortune at Misverstand, and best wishes for little damage and quick healing! Now the obvious question "... while out ... on his Honda ..." - what were you doing on a Honda ? Or is this the good fortune part - much lighter, less damage, lest costly ? Good luck further, and to Karen for the caring!
Cheers, Karl

Get well soon Ian. Did chat to Karen last night she was at the hospital and Ian had just come out of surgery. He was still groggy so I could not chat to him but sent our regards for a speedy recovery.

Hi All Thanks to all for the good wishes for Ian's speedy recovery. He is at Blaawberg Netcare, 3rd Floor Surgical Ward, and will most likely be there till Thursday morning. He is doing well and bracing himself for the painful and trying weeks ahead. (FYI: The Netcare hospital is the new hospital on the R27 near West Coast Village & Builders Warehouse) Regards Karen

Hi All Thanks for the good wishes. I am now out of hospital and back home. The surgeon has put in a tibia nail from just below my knee through the bone to just above the ankle. It is secured with two screws at the top and two at the bottom. So I will be able to walk (and ride of course) again in about 8 weeks time. Oh, and anyone reading this who doesn't have medical aid or a hospital plan - GET ONE! All the best Ian
