Helmet

Late last year RedAdventure wrote about his Lazer Revolution helmet. I had a look at it, at one of the "other" shops in town. I liked the fit of the helmet and was on my way to the till when I saw a foam strip that was coming undone. No problem - the agent will swop out the helmet in a day or two. Yaaa right, a few weeks later I bought another (brand) helmet. It seems the local agents for Lazer are not "lazer sharp". Back then RedAdventure did make a comment about their lack of service. Very few shops stock the lazer products. A shop in Bellville is now even sending all their Lazer stock back and cutting ties with these agents. But the Lazer Revolution is a stunning helmet!!! Besides the good fit it also has a duel visor system. A normal clear visor, and an extra tinted visor that can be closed in a second when you suddenly get into bright light. I have asked around at a number of shops for another brand that has two visors - with no luck. Does anobody on this forum know of another duel visor helmet.

The Caberg Justissimo is also a flip front helmet which features the drop down visor. Slightly too noisy for me and also quite heavy, but this is due to the hinges and clasps all being made of steel. I have many friends who wear these in England and they swear by them. Personally, I prefer a clear visor and Ray Bans. Ray Ban (or Vuarnet) sunglasses have ultimate filters which, n poor light or rain, bring out the definition of the road and cars in the mist. The Vuarnet's are exceptional as they're actually designed for snow and skiing, making the yellow lense filter brilliant. So, spend some dosh on a good helmet, buy a pair of Ray Bans (genuine, not "imported") and you'll find nirvana. Lawrence
