Heated Grips and throttle

Hi, Has anyone ever experienced problems with heated grips? When I switch my heated grips on is makes my throttle twist feel hard and `sticky`. It's like having cruise control because the throttle does not release :-) Anyway my 650GS is going in for a service on the 21st and I've asked Shane to check it out, was just interested if anybody else ever experienced such a problem? Cheers Corné

Corne, ek het dieselfde probleem met my 1200 GSA. Het vergeet om dit te noem by die 20 000 diens. Sal jy laat weet hoe om dit reg te maak wanneer hulle jou fiets doen?

I also thought it was dust in my throttle cable at first, because the last time I dropped my bike the throttle adjuster snapped and the cable is now exposed.(will be replace on my 20 000km service) However the problem is definitely related to the heated grips and nothing to do with dust ;-) And it's riding on tar that I actually NEED the heated grips.. off road I hardly have them on ;-) Corné Kloppers 0849130391 ckloppers@gmail.com

Mine did exactly the same. I solved the problem by loosening the mirror clamp and the kill-switch assembly slightly, moving them a tad away from the rubber grip, and re-tightening. The throttle grip onviously expands when it gets hot and if there is no gap between the rubber end and the kill-switch assembly, it tends to stick a bit. Problem solved! :) At the front of every adventure is a BMW

mmm.. good point Vernon. I did fiddle with my handlebars and mirrors recently. Could be that, will check it out tonight. Thanks ;-) Corné Kloppers 0849130391 ckloppers@gmail.com

Thanks Vernon! You were correct, I've moved the kill-switch assembly slightly away from my throttle and it solved the problem :-) I rode to work this morning with very hot paws ;-) JR.. Maybe you have a similar problem... give it a try. Corné Kloppers 0849130391 ckloppers@gmail.com
