The GS Trophy has been entrenched over its 10 year existence as the icon of international adventure riding events. During 2017, a series of qualifying rounds will be completed throughout South Africa, where the best male and female entrants will be going forward to represent their regions in the GS Trophy SA Final at Badplaas in May. The top 3 male riders of each region, and selected female riders, will have the opportunity to enter the GS Trophy Qualifier 2018: Team SA FINALS where Team South Africa will be selected for the International GS Trophy 2018. During 2018, Team South Africa will compete amongst teams from Europe, Asia, Africa and America, demonstrating their team spirit, fitness, tenacity and riding skills - with the added challenge of defending South Africa's International GS Trophy title. There will be increased female participation too, which opens opportunity for more female riders to join this amazing adventure.
The GS Trophy is not a race, but it is a war! It confronts entrants with a major physical and mental challenge: whilst making friends for life - from all the corners of the globe. It is often described as the adventure of a lifetime by participants. And although there is only one winning team at the end, it is always fascinating to observe during the competition how a combination of gravel, sand, mud and dust can make people so happy.
