Good to be back on the bike

I left my bike at the airport as usual and returned to be reunited after 11 days.

The battery is three years old.

The bike stood idle for 11 days.

She coughed, spat, and then settled to a nice purr.

I let her  sluice oil over the bearings into all her good bits and then just had to  satisfy the urge to twist her right ear a bit to hear that growl from deep down in her throat and feel the little surge to the right.

Amazing hey? you gotta love the boxer.

Then I strapped on my trolley bag and back pack and off we went.

My God it was so good to be home & on the bike again.

As I twisted through the bollards and u-turned onto the drive through road I could not help standing again.

Within seconds I was in my home environment, in my element, feeling all 112 horses the boxer develops lunge me off into the main stream traffic.

A feeling of this is where I am meant to be.

I sure I became very very young again as I shed years just riding through the traffic to Tygervalley.

It was so good to be in, well actually, above the saddle and to use my body weight to take the bike wherever I wanted it to go.

Awesome awesome stuff.

After 11 days in the nanny states of Europe it was so good to see a taxi swerve from Right to left across the traffic - competing for a lone person looking for a ride.

If there is one thing I cannot tolerate overseas, its the hensoppers- those South Africans abroad - talking SA down.

I'm so glad they are not here anymmore, but at the same time pissed off that they are our biggest millstones too.

Going through 4 European countries, just brings home to you how fortunate we are to be in SA and to have the fantastic road networks we have. What a lifestyle. Man we are spoilt here.

Appreciate every minute of it.

It was so good to be wearing the 1200GSA again!

So good to be back in the saddle.

Unfortunately I have another Moz trip next week, so will have to abstain for another week.

errr. I also missed my wife too.

Think before you ink.

Trust is the most valuable asset.

I have the rest of my life to get old.

I have just been under the knife to remove a cheese cake of lung that was holding a piece of melanoma for me. Two weeks afterwards, on Thursday I noticed that the bike's pipes were looking rather tarnished so I got down on a milking chair and polished them up.

And that urge got me. Full kit I entered home bound traffic on the M3 to Muizenberg and back home on the M5.

Agreed. What a privilege and joy! Can't wait to join the next uncancelled group ride.

Cheers,

G
