Generator light stays on with key of and not charging

A friend brought me a BMW R80 RT and said the battery keeps going dead and the generator light stays on with the key off. Where do I start? Is the generator shorted? If so where can I find a replacement.

Probably a blown regulator diode. Take the generator to any auto electrician. Or call Alf.

If you can dream it you can do it!
