You would also need to Google and see what other info comes up. Some of the manufacturers may offer a conservative estimate of the power gain that their products offer.

My experience with slip-on aftermarket silencers on the whole is that they look nice and sound nice, but I can't honestly say that I've ever had one that gave me whiplash.

If you replace the entire exhaust system, or de-gut the catalytic converter (if you really want to go that route) you should then experience a tangible improvement.

Not meaning to sound obnoxious, but if you truly require more power, then it is best to consider the 800GS, however there must be ways to have your bike remapped so that it performs to it's full 798cc capacity.

My understanding is that using an aftermarket exhaust does not give you more "power".  What it does do is change the power/torque curve.  So you might get better (or worse) low end torque in exchange for worse (or better) high-end power.

The 700GS can not easily be improved.  It has an 800 engine, mapped down to the power of a 700cc, which gives it a very good torque curve.  Changing the exhaust will not change that much if at all.

I would go with Stan's advice - if you want more power, get a more powerful bike.

Have you tried a BoosterPlug yet? Modern bikes run very lean due to strict EU regulations, causing loss of usable rpm at low rpm, snatchy throttles and more. The BoosterPlug increases the Air/Fuel ratio by 6% under acceleration and gives you a more usable, balanced bike. It even improves the standard exhaust note - you can hear that something more is happening in the compression chamber.

What you may experience with a different exhaust is a slightly lighter bike by maybe 2kg.

Then when you sell the bike, nobody pays more for the bike and you then sell the exhaust separately

Thanks all. New question:

Suppose the F700GS is YOUR bike and you could get a performance pipe fitted at no cost, would YOU do it?

I would, but only if you would!

Just remember that loud pipes can be very tireing on longer distance trips.

A factory approved Akro/Remus/Schnitzer at no cost - yes

Another non factory approved pipe - no
