This one might be a yard too far for the BMW Cape guys, but should you find yourself in Gautengaleng with some spare time on your hands, try this one.

We don't only write or video the gung-ho passes. Sometimes we come across significantly interesting passes where the primary focus is on history. Our featured pass this week is a suburban pass and whilst fairly short and tarred, has plenty to offer as the views over Pretoria are very good, as the road does a full 360 degree bend around the hill to reach the hilltop fort.

There you can visit the fort and step inside to various rooms which been restored back to how life was in the late 1800's for the soldiers living there. A further bonus is that the pass lies within a nature reserve and you will only use a tiny bit of fuel getting there (if you're a Highvelder)

The link below will take you to our Latest News page (where we discuss the thorny topic of illegal road closures) and from there you can take the link to the Fort Klapperkop pass page. We have kept the page open till Sunday 7th May so that non-subscribers can view the whole page and video.
