Morning all,

I want to install a cigarette lighter socket on my GS 1200 LC. I have read that there is a factory-installed connection on the left hand side of the bike. Is this true? If so, can somebody tell me where it is please? I can't for the life of me find it.

Thanks.

Standard plug on front RHS, next to instrument cluster.

This connection is only useful for charging mobile phones, etc as it's controlled by bike's Canbus and does not deliver more that 1 or 2 amps.

hi, If you want to use the plug for air mattress pumps etc then run the wires directly to your battery. just make sure that you have a fuse inline.

Get yourself an 'Optimate 11' cable from Trac Mac. Comes with an in-line fuse, ring lug connectors to go directly onto the battery and a weatherproof SAE connector on the other end. Strap the SAE side to the Frame behind the battery box and off you go. You can run a compressor off there or charge your battery directly.

Trevor,

Thanks so much. That looks like the perfect solution. I just need a SAE-to-cigarette lighter female lead to make it work. I think Optimate sell those too. Thanks again and I'll report back.
