When my ABS light stayed on I knew it was time to change brake pads.On replacement I found metal fillings on the sensor, which I cleaned and after fitting all parts, the ABS still remained on. Donford checked the system on computor and found fault with the sensor, I decided to do another rear check on my own at home

Was I surprised to find the rear wheel grinding after removing wheel, brake calliper and drive belt. the hub litrally wobbles. This caused the brake disk to rub the end of the sensor away, if this had not happenned I could have ended with a siezed rear wheel. I have subsiquintly found these sites on 800ST'S.

Is there any other owner with the same problem. My speed clock has stopped at 38000km and this equates to 17000miles which is stated as  the mileage breakdown

Hi Alwynsid, I have been made aware of this problem by another owner who pointed out that my drive belt had moved away from the sprocket base plate. I investigated it and found that the dampers need replacing. The sprocket is stable. (The wheel has lateral movement if you put the bike on the centre stand and push it top and bottom if the bearing is shot). My F800 doesn't have this problem yet. So I have requested Donfords to replace the bearing anyway to avoid future possible tragedy.

Thanks for your alert and the URL link. I have printed it to show Donfords when I go there tomorrow 17 April.

kind regards,

gavin
