So my patience has finally run out for my 2008 F800gs marshmellow soft front forks.

Please old wise and all know club members, please share your knowledge of what upgrades are availible, their price range more or less and any pros and cons of each different upgrade.

Thanks for your input.

My advice would be to contact people like Donald Walklett (motoworx1@gmail.com), Michael Fúchs (michafux@hotmail.com) or Wayne Fritz. These guys can offer you a range of options depending on what you want to spend. Quite a big difference can be made by revalving the existing cartridges and / or fitting progressive springs to them.

I know that if you wanted to spend big tom, Michael could fit an entire KTM 990 front end, I just don't know if you'd be as welcome at the BMW club ;)

[Some folks have had great sucess with a certain "suspension guru" and although he's a nice guy, I've had nothing but trouble all three times I've been to his workshop].

The 800GS front suspension is a subject that has been widely discussed on this forum already, I believe, so see what a search dredges up:

I think I went a bit overboard with mine: Ohlins TTX cartridges fitted by Michael Fúchs in my existing 800 shocks [Trevor at Adventure Rider tel 021 511 1007 sells them, but it's a special order from overseas]. Your existing shock foot has to be machined to fit the larger rod and its an irreversible process, but they are probably the best aftermarket conversion available. They offer 40 clicks full compression and rebound adjustment on both legs.  Evil

I used Michael Fuchs. He works from his home in Kommejie. Nothing fancy, just a basic upgrade which makes a big difference. I'll inbox you his cell number if you're interested in calling him.
