F650GS... squealing back brake

Hi all, Sorry for the last two days and banter about salespeople etc. Life is too short to fight and I most certainly want to enjoy mine and also my BMW bike. Freak.. Thanks for calling me and for the chat... I most certainly want to meet you in person and next time when I visit the show room I will ask for you personally :-) Anyway, back to business... Anybody got some advice for a squealing back brake on the 650GS? I still have the original brake pads on that came with the bike.. The bike has 7500km on now.. I've tried just about every product to clean the brakes with no luck... Perhaps there is another `brand` of brake pads that I can put on when I take her in for the 10 000km service? Remove the back discs from the brake housing it is fairly simple. Put "Copperslip" grease on the back of the pads then replace them and refit the unit. You can get it from any spares shop. No more brake squeal.

Ja Corne, Geoff se raad sal goed werk - ek het destyds selfde probleem op my Dakar gehad. Copperslip werk baie goed.

Dankie vir die raad. Ek gaan verseker Copperslip probeer... Want die squealing maak my mal :-) Oops, ons het so pas van Engels na afrikaans gegaan :-) Sorry :-) Corné Kloppers 0849130391 ckloppers@gmail.com

Hi Corne Glad to see you are still with us. The copperslip works but will wear of with time. I run Ferodo pads ( Dakars, 650, and XChall) front and rear. I found it minimized squeel and had excellent braking feedback.(tried to spell "charasteristics" my oh my, help!) R180.00 vat incl. Non BMW part I know, yes even I sometimes use them brake thingamabobs.

Hi Corne Squealing brakes on the face lift 650's can be a problem.I do have some anti squeal spray which we spray onto the back of the pads, however it does not last. Copperslip also works but it is a quick fix.Like Marius says Ferodo pads do the job.The front disc has a anti squeal kit fitted which unfortunately is not available for the rear. I hope this will help you.
