First of all, before you go any further - there are no bikes allowed. Rather haul your 4x4 off to Barberton and do this amazing pass, not so much for it's hairpin bends and steep gradients, but for the astonishing historical experience. In our news feed today we explore how this pass, the Queen of Sheba, a lost city and a shipwreck off the Brittany Coast in 1896 ties up into a compelling story that few South Africans even know about. (Having said that - a biker submitted this route to us and he wangled his way into a permit and rated this as the third toughest trail he has ever done)
