Tony, Comfortably inside 1½ hours from Oudtshoon to the tFie Hel turn-off. Comfortably 2 hours on down the 50km to the SANpark gate in Die Hel. So leave your self 3½ hours dylight time for the return ride to Oudtshoon and plan your day accordingly. If you wanna borrow the book on the history of the valley I have a copy in English. To do justice to the trip learn a bit about it and visit the SANPARK office right at the furtherest you can go. Easily do-able on a Saturday. Potable water still at several point on the road and down in the valley. Andyman Yup that's me. Standing up in the traffic on the 1150GSA.

Tony, unfinished business.... You never did quite tell us what you did to sort out your mis-fire problem after your last winter ride into the Northern Cape. What happened? misfire go away, put in petrol?, or did you drain the spark plugs, charge the alternator, clean the sprockets and tune the front forks to "C"-minor? I heard that helps. What happened? Andyman Yup that's me. Standing up in the traffic on the 1150GSA.

Hi Andyman, It went away by itself after about maybe 2 weeks so I suspect it probably was fuel related. Thanks for the book, it is a good idea, where can I contact you? BB, Here is a letter from Nature Conservation to me recently. Out of courtesy just send the lady an e mail tell her you are from the "Club" and when you are visiting. Geoff. Good day Geoff I am really disappointed in what you experienced - and I will be visiting Gamkaskloof tomorrow and follow-up your complaints. You do not need a permit to enter with motorcycles we just need to capture the amount of people at the front office and find out who will take control of the group in case they do not adhere to the rules of the reserve. The easiest way to do it is to drop me an e-mail when you take a group to Gamkaskloof and just state that you will be in charge of the group and I will let the lady at the gate know when you will be visiting and she can then just capture the totals. Please visit Martin and Elmarie Botha on your next visit - you are more than welcome to go to the office and please take the group with you for a cup of coffee and to read the history of the valley at the info center. We have a big tree at the office so the people can sit and rest under it for a while in the shade. I will contact you again after my visit to Gamkaskloof and I really understand how you felt and will try to sort it out. Tony Beware of the last river crossing in the valley. Near the western end of the valley floor you will get to quite a wide river crossing over the Gamka river. It is a concrete "drif" but the concrete can be extremely slippery because of algae. My brother-in-law took an unwanted swim there last year and when I walked across to help him pick up the bike it was like walking on ice. Enjoy the trip - it's great!

Tony, Have enough time left to pop into Prince Albert to the Lazy Lizzard for Apple Crumble & Coffee. Ignore opinions, heed facts. Feet on the pegs, always.
