Diamond Route - Six Day Western and Northern Cape Tour Longway Moto, in association with Qwe Qwena Tours brings you a highlight on our tours portfolio and takes you to the historic and beautiful, home of the Diamond industry. Harking back to the days of Cecil John Rhodes and the discovery of diamonds, exclusive to Longway Moto, you will sample the sheer opulence of private game reserve accommodation, originally commissioned and designed for the directors of the de Beers mining corporation. Six Day Western and Northern Cape Tour highlighted by a visit to Rooipoort Nature Reserve Day 1 • Depart early from Cape Town and ride to Hanover along the N1 as today is a long haul. Distance of ride = +/- 790 km's • Lunch pause in Beaufort West at own cost. (Option to visit the Chris Barnard Home and Museum here.) • Overnight in Hanover at a charming Karoo B&B - Dinner, bed and breakfast. Option to watch the sunset from the summit of "Trappieskoppie," from which there is a commanding view of the town and countryside. Day 2 • Depart from Hanover on back roads via Phillipstown, Petrusville, Luckhoff, Koffiefontein, Jacobsdal, Modderrivier and Kimberley to Rooipoort with an option to visit the Kimberley Big Hole and/or the Nelson Mandela Museum should the fancy take one. Distance of ride = +/- 374 km's. Arrive at Rooipoort in afternoon. • Lunch pause in Koffiefontein at own cost. This is where John Vorster was imprisoned during the Second World War and is so named by transport riders from the habitual making of coffee at the fountain here. • Check-In followed by Lunch in the garden of the Shooting Box • Afternoon game drive on your bike (or if you prefer, in the game viewing Landcruiser) • Surprise Sundowners on the Pan • Dinner in the Box Day 3 • Light Breakfast • Morning Game Drive OR Bike Ride to the river (all on private game reserve property) • Brunch on the banks of the Vaal River • Back to the Box • Afternoon High Tea • Game Drive to feed the Buffalo, Roan & Sable • Dinner in the Box • Overnight in Rooipoort in cottages - Dinner, bed and breakfast. Day 4 • Breakfast • Depart from Rooipoort and ride to Augrabies Falls Nature Reserve via Griekwastad, Groblershoop, Upington, Keimoes and Kakamas. Distance of ride = +/- 460 km's • Lunch pause in Upington at own cost. • Overnight in Chalets in the Augrabies Nature Reserve that sleep two - Accommodation only chalet (2-Sharing). A la Carte Dinner and breakfast in Camp Restaurant available at guests own expense. Day 5 • Depart from Augrabies and ride to Kakamas. In Kakamas we turn off onto your first bit of gravel to ride past some fascinating rock formations on the way to Kenhardt. From Kenhardt it's the dreaded "no-mans land," to Calvinia, past the largest Post Box in the world and on to Nieuwoudtville. • Lunch pause in Brandvlei at own cost. • Overnight in Nieuwoudtville at "Bokveldt House," that caters for seven and is part of the Van Zijls Guesthouses. Bed and breakfast. (Dinner is a set three course menu at an extra R 125.00 per person.) • Here we have the option of visiting the impressive Doorn River Waterfall, 7 km's from Nieuwoudtville, along the road towards Loeriesfontein. Day 6 • Depart from Nieuwoudtville and keeping on the gravel we will ride through the Botterkloof Pass and over the Pakhuis Pass into Clanwilliam. From Clanwilliam we will ride on tar to Lambert's Bay and then get back onto gravel to travel close along the coast to Veldrif. A short distance of this road is along a private road where a small toll is payable for guests own account. At Veldrif we hop back onto tar on the R27 into Cape Town where your tour ends. • Lunch pause in Lambert's Bay at own cost. Heard the rumour that the Namqua Brandy that you can buy from the local bottle store here is actually K.W.V. 10 year old? (Option to visit Bird Island Sanctuary.) Meet your Tourguide: Steve Thomas of Qwe Qwena tours has been guiding and operating for the past 9 years and is one of the few motorcycle tour guides registered to guide in Northern, western, Eastern Cape, Kwazulu Natal, Mpumalanga and Gauteng.
