Eish.............Julle maak my mal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!In English..... Eish.............You make me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!! OK I give in...........This Sunday 6th April, A day ride to Wuperthal. Route will be as follows: 0645 (be there a bit earlier if you want breakfast) meet at the Engen 1 stop on the N7 5kms past the Melkbos turn off. 0700 Depart for Citrusdal (Cold drink). Take old road to Clanwilliam (Cold drink). Then to Wuperthal (Cold drink if shop open), Eselbank pools, Cederberg Oasis for a quick thirst quencher the home via Ceres and Bainskloof(May stop at Bush pub depending on time). The route is quite technical but not too difficult. If you are inexperienced I would suggest not bringing a pillion on the ride with you. Please bring a back pack with water. We will fill up in Clanwilliam. Interested? Just put your name on the thread as I need to give the Cederberg Oasis some warning as their service is very very slow and all we will get is toasted samies. Let me know, Geoff.

Will a newbie like me survive this trip? Also, when you say Bainskloof, are you talking about the pass?

Have about 15 bikes for this ride. I would like to suggest that you arrive earlier at the meeting place and have a Wimpey breakfast before departure. Tanya you could meet us on the N7 at the top of the hill outside Malmsbury to save you the trip to the meeting spot. If you are there from 0715 you should be fine.

Geoff, I am also in if you haven't counted me already - JdJ said he told you I would be there. I can help with sweeping or whatever task will result in my riding more, harder or technical. Looks like you will be dealing with a mob of all skill levels. Oh, yes, if anybody has a pillion and is worried about a technical section, I will happily ferry the pillion for them. Ask Benna. regards Charles

Excellent, I hate riding the bends all by myself at my usual snail's pace. The company would be welcome. Actually the only reason Bainskloof freaks me out, is cause of the ride during Nelson's Creek. I couldn't see the riders in front of me, and had the horrible feeling i was holding up the rest of the pack. But the truth is I don't think anybody actually noticed.

Yes, Thanks Geoff and everyone else. It was great fun and will definitely do it again. In the end, a nice day almost spoiled by the idiot at the Ceres fuel station. Thanks to all for braving the elements on this hot, cold, wet, windy day ride. Really appreciate you all getting out from behind your partners back at mossie poep to spend the day with your fellow Club members. I am starting a collection to purchase "Rocket Renette" a snorkel for her bike............any takers?? I had a really great ride.

Oh, and I forgot to mention: I rode behind Vernon and Monique for quite some distance and they handled the tricky terrain with aplomb. Well done you two! I look forward to more trips with you.

Thanks Geoff, I'm sure we all had loads of fun. Some left with a bruise or two, but every body had a great safe trip. Its a pity it rained, I was looking at the scenery after every stop and visor cleaning session. I probably took less than 1km to cover it with dust/rainy mud, so much so that I was having to concentrate to see the road when the drizzle came. Summary: Great day, great people, great route, bike in one piece and I'm not too sore. P.S. I did not come off...

Thanks to John and the other gent (sorry - the name escapes me) who were sweeping up the hill when I decided to rest up in one of the corners - you guys helped tremendously (only damage to speak of is a cracked rear flicker lens at R104). That stint in Ceres was super *fun* though... but let's be fair - we were in his way - and he was probably too drunk to find the reverse gear...

Thanks to Geoff for the super organising of the trip. The saamie was lekker, gave us enough strength to tackle the cold ( min. 9 centigrades between Oasis and Gydo Pass ) and the desert-highway. Thanks as well to the sweeper John and for his spectacular ride through the sands of Eselbank !! Looking forward to the next ride, may be some riders should take swimming gear, or even diving gear, shame.

Hope we didn't hold you up too much! :) And then a special thanks to Geoff for all his advice, assistance, support and words of encouragement and a great ride! The same goes for Johan & Tracey who helped us tremendously! And also a word of thanks to Corné & Charles for their support and encouragement as well. It can only get better! Geoff - Thank you for an amazing ride yesterday! Johan and I really enjoyed it, to think we weren't going to go because it was raining! Great ride, scenery and some nice challenges - and yes Johan made me stand the WHOLE way! Even in Bain's Kloof on the way home. Hennie - clearly those chaps at the garage could NOT count! So, please fill us in - what really happened at the garage?

The short version Jaco is as follows: As we came into Ceres from the Op die Berg side we all pulled into the first garage on the LHS. Some for petrol all for air. There is only one air pipe so it got a bit crowded in the lane where the pipe was. A local drunk broer with 3 or 4 extremely drunk mates pulled into the bowser behind the bikes. After having put in 25c petrol instead of just reversing out of the lane and moving off he stands on his hooter and tells us in his frightfully English accent to move our bikes. With hooter blaring and signs being shown through the windscreen at us and the mates in the back shouting out of the windows about our mothers private parts we don't move. Had he have just asked there would have been no issue. Now us dutchman don't take kindly to being hooted at for no apparent reason (because had he asked we would have moved), having signs shown at us and more importantly although the Broers don't mind insulting each others mothers we get enraged by it. So a stand off ensued, 5 against 15 very angry Club members. The most impressed Club member having recently been robbed at gunpoint. Must confess I was expecting a massacre. However after a few minutes of..............shall I say "tense stand off", in the true tradition of the "Club", we let the guys through! It was a very close call and could have gone either way. However the "Club" members displayed extreme calmness in the face of this uncalled for confrontation. I am proud of each on of them!

Wow, it certainly sounds like you guys had fun. I felt like a bit of drowned rate when I met you all at the 1 Stop. My rain kit is obviously useless. On the half hour trip back home, even my supposedly waterproof boots let water in. By the time I got home, the only part of me that was dry was the very top of my head, even the sides of my helmet were soaked.

Shame Steve... You clearly went the wrong way :-) When we left the 1 Stop the weather cleared out and it was an awesome ride... we had some drizzle but not rain like you described... sorry you missed it! Next time ;-) Corné Kloppers 0849130391 ckloppers@gmail.com

I don't have rain gear and although I got a little wet - it was nothing near what you suffered - you should have tagged along - the very fresh air would of had you dry by the time you got home ;)

Fortunately Malletjie and myself had the common sense to go to the Engin on the good side of town. Just for your information there is an Engin and shell right opposite each other there and it would have been faster to split into two groups there and inflate and refuel. P.S. Sorry John, I did not mean to leave you out. Thanks a mill for the doing the hard work at the back. P.P.S. My gear and bike is filthy and Geoff's looks like its in showroom condition, next time he sweeps and someone else can lead.(just kidding)
