Club Constitution

In light of recent happenings on the Forum, seeing that our Club Constitution dates from 11 APRIL 1984 and that there are no guidelines for online forum participation I propose that we consider some amendments to our constitution. I think it is too easy for people to contravene Section 2.4 of our constitution on the Forum, hence my proposal for specific Online Forum Conduct Guidelines in our constitution. I also suggest that the Forum is only open to Members with paid-up club fees. Have a look at the BMW Motorcycle Club Victoria, Australia. Only club members are allowed participation on the Forum. http://www.bmwmccvic.org.au They actually call it a `Member Forum`. I would also like to know what the regulations are regarding participation on events organised by the club, with particular reference to Non BMW Motorcycles. From what I read in Section 3, the constitution does not make provision for Non BMW motorcycle riders. Could we possibly add a discussion on amendments to our constitution on the Agenda for the next meeting? Why not discuss in person with the Chairman? JohandeJager It takes more love to share the saddle than it does to share the bed. I'm the guy that'll be sneaking out of the bedroom at three o'clock in the morning to look at my bike.

Eish! Why don’t we just ride our bike? Rony

Corne, what about people like JohanM? He is a minister at a church and will thus hardly ever join us for a Sunday ride. As such he is not a club member, but he does add value to this forum. Also many people interact here long before they ever join a ride. Most of us have story about how carefull (and nervous) we were for bringing our better halfs to a "biker gathering". Furtunately all of us have a super story of how it turned out great. :) As for people having to be members before they can join a ride. If memory serves me right, you also did a few rides before you joined - like most people. Fortunately we do not have a problem with "hangers on" that join in all the activities without joining. Most give it a short "trail" run and then join. By and large we have a stunning bunch of people all contributing towards a single goal. General guidelines have worked fine up until now. Introducing a bunch of school rules might not go down well. Hoekom krap waar dit nie jeuk nie?

My point exactly Rony. JohandeJager It takes more love to share the saddle than it does to share the bed. I'm the guy that'll be sneaking out of the bedroom at three o'clock in the morning to look at my bike.

Chris, I can remember being told to check the language I use on the Forum because it's being read by outside people/woman/children etc. That is one regulation for the Forum and I am sure there are many more! Also a club discussion like the one we had roadies vs GS need to be kept as a internal matter I feel. Especially when emotions run riot. Having a `open` forum might give `outside` people the impression that we actually busy writing a script for a TV `Soapie` ;-) PS. I've been on one ride and one club meeting before joining :-) I just had to wait a long time for my club badge. I was referring to Non BMW Bikes, with the exception of Jane, we know her reasons :-) Corné Kloppers 0849130391 ckloppers@gmail.com

Hey Guys, Let's cut out all this chirping re on-road / off-road stuff at NC. It must be very disheartening for those that put all that effort into the organising. Everyone has the choice to participate or not. For my part, a big thanks to all those that organize. Without those that step up to the plate, we would not have all these excellent functions. It seems to me that it is becoming a thankless task, so let's beware lest we destroy the enthusiasm of those who do all the work. Apart from making suggestions for improvement, and these should possible be best done directly with the organisers, stop complaining!!!

I'll spend my time on the bike rather than complain, but I will complain about not spending time on the bike!!
