The post is sticky at the top of the "Riding Skills" section of the forum.  Where people can find it if they don't use the search funtion.

Yes, it would be nice if every important thing could always be at the top of every list and on the first page always.

Would you like me to turn it into an advert banner so you can find it by refresing the page a few dozen times until it turns up?

I've made my booking for May through the new-and-improved system. When is the cut-off date for payment for each course? Obviously you have to send proof of payment before the day, but I'd just like to know what your cutt-off is with regards to venue logistics, etc.

EXCELLENT QUESTION.

The booking is only a booking when the payment is made.

The list is populated on the booking sheet by confirmed payments. Not intentions.

That's why, if you do not hou kop and put your name + the event IN THE 'BENEFIACRY' advice field, the booking cannot be reconciled and you 'think' you are booked, but you are actually not on the list.

It's also a DARWIN way of filtering out frustrating fails.

The club should charge a surcharge, not a straf dop for people who cannot make a simple effective payment, - the process of tracking the payment is costly and hugley frustrating.

It's a chief reason why treasurers do not last!

Far too much pyjama drill, especially as there are serial offenders.

They can twist a throttle, but they cannot make your life easier by putting name and event.

There are never less than three events to be factored into the bank recon at any one time.

We have not had a single event where every person has put NAME + EVENT on their EFT  for the beneficiary.

Dear Webmaster,

this is a great facility!

A small leap on your keyboard, a giant leap in the BMWMCCC!

Please consider arranging the options to include one for TRAINING, and on this tab, access to all on training, including sub folders for material and for the upcoming courses.

And in a prominent place, the disclaimer about when a booking is a booking and when not and what constitutes a payment.

Far too often, and a reason I take a break from organising events is the fact that people do not think about making life easier, they simply call up their beneficiary detail for the BMWMCCC in the online banking profile and make a payment with the amount.        Some even pay for more than one event/item and this confuses/frustrates the recon.

I have several training events coming up and I'm baulking because I do not have the time available to sit and recon the payments all the time.

It gives me the absolute heebies.

It gave Natalie and Anne the absolute jitters every time and it has made Ros  very frustrated very often.

We get payments for a training day and the statement says "Wild Coast Tour". who is paying and for which of three to 6 events the club is doing is not known, so its a dangerously frustrating process to fathom this out.

If you put as disclaimer, we can scrub people off a course without a problem because they cannot read.

Check it out by clicking the "Training" tab in the top menu.  There were a few links under articles that were actually training, so I have included them in the submenu.

If we tag forum topics with the "training" tag (under "trip type"), I can make a page in the submenu that will display them all in one place.

Query 1: Does that mean that "first-pay-first-served" as opposed to "first-booked-first-served?" In that case, I'd rather pay now to secure my spot. The reason I waited last time was because I was not sure whether my bike would be working. Turns out my bike did die on me. BUT it seems as if my bike should be ready for anything now. Yay!!

Query 2: If you did book and pay, but something major turns up (e.g. bikes actually does not work, you broke a bone, someone died, etc, in others words, not in the realm of "I broke a fingernail"), is it possible to move the booking to one of the later dates?

Zanie, we are not unreasonable.  Something like training, where it is easy to adjust numbers on the day, is no problem to carry your payment over.

Tours are another story, because venues need to be paid in advance.

However, in both cases, you can always arrange a substitute.

This is actually not as easy as Charles comment.  we also have a commitment with Anura Vineyards regarding numbers for lunch and have to confirm early in the week for them to do their ordering.  Thus we are liable for people that do not pitch.  It is club policy that you forfeit your payment if u cancell/dont pitch.  We had to pay  for 10 people at some stage that did not had the decency to cancel or pitched.  It's just good manners.  Organising events like this in your free time and spending a day at training is all for the love of it, but it also is about respect for time and people.

Sorry.  I hadn't realised we had to book and pay for lunch in advance.  In that case Zanie, I think you will agree that it is reasonable that you forfeit your payment if you cannot arrange a substitute.

What people also don't realise is how much extra work it is for the organisers to deal with all the chopping and changing.  Each person thinks their little special case is no big deal, but multiply that by twenty and it feels like you have become a kindergarten teacher.

Perfectly reasonable. Anyway, I don't plan to forfeit. I'm really looking forward to the day! Thanks for all the effort of organising the training.

Which is also why we share the list of serial cancellers amongst each other.

It sure tkes the fun out of arranging events when people cancel at short notice.

Now, yourayment is your booking and you are committed.

but we'd rather you were there all the time in person.  Its for you the club member that we do this,
