How about the above as a day......arrive +- 8/8.30 and have lectures, various groups....fast, med, slow, ladies, confused...etc.
This will give plenty of time to both ride and learn by trying different lines, braking earlier/later etc. as well as time to socialize..... and finish the day with a braai...a really fun day in the spirit of all the passes.
If we are to do this we need to plan now, as later the track will be fully booked until next year!!!
Post on this thread to give the club an indication of interest.
Much as the 2 hr sessions are great and have upped my safety on the road, I do enjoy the social, this would have both.
Let's make it happen!
I am very keen - with my poor skill levels I need all the training I can get!
If it is on a Saturday or Sunday I will be there. Track riding is the best way to improve your technique and general road safety levels.
I'm very keen.
Especially as you've indicated as very civilized start time.
A while ago I attended a 'short-course' day, that had a section of off-road as part of the track. It was an introductory motard day, with a mixture of scramblers and motard bikes of all makes. What made it nice was:
Imagine:
If we have a strong club contingent, and provide training and instruction, yet allow all brands and non-members to attend, I bet we will win some converts and open some eyes.
Personally, I don't feel as though I can learn much more from the track as it stands - I've been to at least 4 track sessions and would really only be interested in something with some offroad also.
I'm very keen.
Especially as you've indicated as very civilized start time.
I also like time to SSS and have my tea before anything too strenous.
Sounds great Neil. I need to start somewhere, but will obviously depend on the date.
Neil, you need to be commended for once again initiating an event of this nature. Yes Jean & I will certainly attend and despite my riding years am sure that I can still learn (maybe) something. it's about the social aspect as well also known as the destress period. Practice makes perfect.
Cheesy I am certain you will learn something, with your age you have forgotten so much, you again have space to learn!
I certainly hope it happens, if enough people show an interest ....I'm sure it will.
I picture it not as a race day, or a 'U vil learn' day, but rather as a 'Celebrate your Bike' day.
A quiet, fun day.
I really would like to see this as an annual club event.
Count me in - still have lots to learn!
You're never too old to learn something new every day. Count me in
I'm also very keen Neil. Thanks for suggesting this event.
Lots to learn and the track is the best place to experiment. Regards
Hamid
Hi Niel
I would like to join you too
Good idea! I'll definitely come if I can.
Thanks for suggesting it, Neil.
Tian
I am in.
For the ladies on smaller bikes, a short course is much more helpful. Viva short course Viva! Viva Oliver Thambo Viva!
Oh Yes! I'm in - there's a monster corner that frighten me the last time.
I need lots, lots, lots more practice ...
Brilliant idea Neil! Would be great if I could pillion, before I go round on my own....?
Sheez Charles, Erica posts on the Ladies Day at killarney...." Too many corners not enough straights" you are after more corners.....why not take Julie to Bain's Kloof....
Actually the small course would be excellent training....different but excellent.
ps. ANC policy is for more children....you and Julie???viva!
Neil, maybe you shouldnt pay too much attention to my previous comment about all the corners. I'm a creature of comfort: I also dislike parrallel parking, 3 point turns, pulling away at an incline, .... anything that requires you to do more that stop and climb out of off your vehicle ...
If Erica hates corners then the only way around it is to have more of them until she gets over her fears! Anybody can go fast in a straight line, as we all know...
Count us in. (Wayne & Elmarie). We love the track days and I have learnt a lot at every single one of them. Wayne grows horns on the track, but I actually learn!
sounds like a must do!
we're in
ater and clare
I'm also in, just one question, never done this before and have knobblies on at the moment, is that OK?
Yes, I'm keen.
Please arrange!
Very knobbly tyres are not allowed. However, if you have Heidenau K60s then they are fine - Mr.Badger has done a few track days wearing them.
That is another benefit of the short course day with mixed track - they allowed knobblies, because speeds were lower and flying knobs were less likely to cause harm.
Well I am keen as mustard, providing of course the parts for my k1200 get here in time from ze fatherland! :)
P Phred I am certain your parts would make it in time, at this stage it is more to get a show of hands, as the past few 2hr training sessions were poorly supported, leading to hesitancy in organising into the future, however unless we move on this, we may not be able to get time on the track.
Late December 09 we were given no really good options in the months Jan to April 2010 for the ladies.
I really hope to see a lot of support from the road folks.
Yep, good idea.
Count me in.
Hey Neil! Good to see you're taking this under your wing!
Count me in
Sounds like a blast, you can count me in.
I'm keen. And unlike Erica, I like curves
Pete, Pete....Curves made in tar, not sailors ideas of curves....still interested?
I'd be interested, depending if working or not..... I might actually get around to officialy joining the club then!
Pete, Pete....Curves made in tar, not sailors ideas of curves....still interested?
Ooooh ... sorry ... totally misunderstood. Yes still interested. In fact much safer without the distractions :-
Hey Neil, Any update on this? Have you managed to get a date from Killarney?
Hi Neil
I'm still new at this game and need all the advise and training I can get.
Count me in.
Sorry time a bit tight, I'll try and post a reply tonight.
Hi Neil. You can count me in on this one. I need all the training that I can get. Please keep us up to date as to what is happing.
