Hi Fellow BMW Wild Coasters, Now that is what I call an Adventure. Heather and I did not get to spend much time speaking to everyone at the end so I am sending this message to everyone. Geoff: A Huge Heartfelt Thank You for an amazing journey in an amazing place and the opportunity to indulge in our passion. The organization and execution of the trip was top drawer and the attention to detail impeccable. We wanted for nothing and were treated to some of the best spots the area has to offer. You most definitely missed your vocation and should be doing this full time. I sincerely hope you do the trip again next year as I am already looking forward to the next one. The whole riding experience from start to finish was an education process that will not be easily forgotten and has inspired me to ride a lot more often and push my boundaries just a little further. The experience for Heather was a revelation and she is already talking about getting back into the Gym to strengthen her core muscles and spend much more time learning to ride her own Bike. Thank You for your Leadership, Friendship and mentoring throughout our journey together. Chris Boltman: To the GPS man, thank you for the information, assistance and camaraderie. I thoroughly enjoyed the tales of tours gone by and learnt a lot riding behind you when the opportunities presented themselves and I will certainly miss your easy manner and sense of humor. I look forward to the next time we get to ride together again Jaco: To the quiet strongman of the group, we did not get to spend much time socializing. Your riding style is related to your physical strength and has inspired me to get back to the gym, if they will have me. Tino: Thank You for the all the support, caring and assistance in times of need particularly when I bailed off. In fact whenever the pawpaw hit the fan you seemed to be there willing and able to assist. Please don’t forget to tell the guys in Gauteng that the boys down south really know how to put a tour together. You already ride it like you stole it so just don’t get caught. Jacques: The Jager Meister. Thank you for brightening up my day everyday. I will never be able to look at a bottle of Jagermeister without remembering your antics and our great tour together. I sincerely hope you find a solution to your rear end problems soon without resorting to the Vim Blik technology. You are unique in a refreshing way and I am glad I had the pleasure of meeting and getting to know you. Gerry: You are a cinch for acting school. Anyone who can express their discontent with facial features like you did must be a winner in Hollywood. I sincerely hope that the effects of Geoff’s laxative therapy have left you a healthier and happier man not to mention significantly lighter. I hear Brooklax are looking for someone to feature in their new ads. Gis is going to send them a portfolio of suitable shots. Thank You for the support, fellowship and some interesting tumbles on the tour. Chris Dunn: My water crossing partner. You and I hold the unique position of being the only two people on the tour to have given our engines an internal wash. Whilst not the best trick in the book it certainly taught me how to rectify the situation. Sorry I suggested that you leave your top bag behind. Next time don’t listen. Dirk: Congrats you are definitely no longer a virgin biker but you have to get rid of that 650 x Country, it keeps on falling over. I hope that you find your way out of your midlife crisis soon without resorting to naked men conferences again. It is all in the mind just like the riding. Terence: We share a unique bond with our children and their learning disabilities. In that regard we wish you luck and success. It is sometimes humbling to realize that we are not alone on that journey. You also hold the unique privilege of having a river crossing named after you. Something we can all aspire to next time but preferably without the injuries. I hope and trust that your knee will heal quickly and that you will be soon riding the rough stuff again. Phillipe: I got passed by you so many times that it took me three days to realize that there was only one X Country on the tour. It was great to see someone enjoying the benefits of an agile bike when it really got rough. Glen: You Sir were an inspiration. You have proved beyond any shadow of doubt that there is no age limit to enjoying a bike and I am sure you will go from strength to strength with time in the saddle. I really enjoyed our informative discussions around the dinner tables along the way on subjects of mutual interest. It is a long time since I have had the pleasure of interacting with someone with such an in depth knowledge of the financial markets. I hope you recover quickly from your injuries and that you enjoy your overseas trip. I sincerely hope I get the opportunity to ride with you again in the future. Russ and Gis: Thank you both for the support and encouragement throughout the trip and especially for your pillion colleagues. Gis the effort you put into the photography and videos was enormous and I know the whole group shares my sentiments with thanks for a tough job well done. Heather’s brief foray into that realm was hilarious for both of us and gave her an insight into how difficult it was. We will see you guys in Cape Town, hopefully in the not to distant future, until then ride safely and enjoy the adventures. Gis leave the Nougat at home. Annie Words cannot describe the admiration we have for your dogged determination and spirit of adventure. You are a truly a unique person and it was a privilege and honor to have shared this tour with you. You accomplished something you can be truly proud of and deserve to be awarded the accolade of the “rider of the trip”. I hope we get together again soon. Andyman. You are the complete tour man. One day I will find out what you cannot do but until then I remain in awe. It was a pleasure, privilege and honor to have toured with you. I have learnt so much about bikes, myself and life in general. I want to thank you for all the support, friendship and camaraderie we enjoyed at the back of the tour. The radio banter and jokes were always appreciated and watching out for our safety in the dark was invaluable and appreciated enormously. Thank you for the ongoing support for Carol I know it makes Heather feel a lot better that there is someone close doing what she feels she should be. You are the first complete humanitarian I have met and for that I salute you. I know that we will ride together again and hope that the opportunity presents itself soon. You know where we are so don’t be strangers. Abie Always last but by no means least. You my friend are a breath of fresh air. It was truly my pleasure getting to know you and appreciate your humor and friendship. The value you add to this tour cannot be measured in simple terms but be assured it is huge and much appreciated. Just knowing that the bakkie is behind you adds huge peace of mind but it can be said also contributes to the risk taking at times. I hope that we will see you and Lynn in our turf soon so that we can rekindle our journey together whilst enjoying the simple things in Life. Keep well and please send me your cell number so that I can keep in contact with you. To Heather: Thank you for sharing this amazing experience with me. The fact that you even considered doing this trip is a tribute to your inner strength and courage. You amazed us all with what you achieved on this tour without complaint and total commitment. You were an inspiration to us all. I hope we get to spend many hours in the saddle together in the future on similar tours. This was the first tour for Heather and I and given the quality time we shared with all of you it is just the beginning of our BMW lifestyle journey and I have to say that I am looking forward to the rest of that journey with anticipation. If any of you find yourselves in our area please come and see us. May all your adventures be exciting and your snacks be tasty. Regards and Best Wishes Hilton and Heather.
