Does anybody have a BMW Venting Jacket and can they recommend it for summer riding? I want to replace my 'Leather Forever' convertible jacket which flows air like crazy but just doesn't fit my body shape and never has.

I ride with it permanently stripped and for the morning commute I just wear a  windbreaker underneath it. It's about 80% mesh so it flows air beautifully but for temps near or below 20 it's too cold. Perfect for riding home on summer afternoons though. Has a few design flaws as well.

In short, I'm looking for a comfortable jacket that fits well and flows air like this one does. The guys at Donford suggested the Venting jacket and say it flows much more air than the Airshell jacket does, and they don't have stock of the Airshell anyway.

Of course, none of the BMW jackets are cheap, but I'm prepared to shell out a few bucks to get what I want. Fit and flow are more important than price.

Any thoughts?

Venting jacket looks nice but I don't like the blue it is available in.

I bought Jean one for her birthday, is comfortable, good fit with sufficient air flow. A happy mom is a happy home.

Think before you ink.

we stock a range of jackets that have MORE venting than even my Airshell jacket, and likely similar amount of air as a venting machine.

Comes with detachable inner, which is both water- and wind-proof.

Pop in and take a look - surprisingly good quality, for not a LOT of money!

Have only seen pictures of them in black so will have to see what they have. I like blue so that won't be an issue for me. The darker the better though, so it doesn't show the dirt.

Chris, are you open on Saturday morning? I was planning to go look at Trac-Mac as well and  you are right around the corner from them so I could pop in and see what you have?

BMW Venting machine gives maximum venting with all the protectors- no other jacket can give more venting

its not cheap but is superior quality that will outlast cheaper brands- and it carries that famous 2year warranty

Go check it out, you wil NOT be sorry, speak to Michael at CT Donfords

incedentally this is the jacket of choice for me on two European touring trips, that and a BMW rain jacket

is all the riding gear I needed.

Tried the DMD jacket at Flying Brick but it doesn't fit me nicely so I went to Trac Mac. Tried on an Alpine Stars jacket, fits well except for the collar which is way too big. SO moved onto DOnfords CT and they don't have my size in the venting jacket, all the popular sizes are sold out. Then tried Trac Mac in Bellville and found a Macna jacket from last season. Good fit, but not enough venting.

Still using my old jacket for now, but determined to get a suitable replacement. Will speak to Johan at Wild at Heart, he has some nice Richa jackets. Must go check them out.

And Boy, did I need venting this afternoon, saw the temp climb to 33.5 on the Vissershok road!

Tomorrow will likely be hotter, phew!
