Archive of BMW Motorrad Club Cape (2006 - 2019)

So my R100 has a clunky sound when pushed and some vibration under accelleration, I narrowed it down to the universal joint that has about 3mm play in one direction. I know that BMW only sells the complete shaft (over R8000). I have seen overseas (UK & America) that the universal joint can be replaced with some DIY. I can replace the joint, but everywhere I ask, they want to sell me a steering rack universal joint and I don't trust that to handle the torque. Anyone have an idea who I can contact to get a proper universal joint, size is 19mm x 44mm, but 19mm x48mm will also work.

The overseas sites that are willing to ship to SA has about the same price for shipping as they charge for the joint and that is just rediculous, plus no guarantee that it makes it to me here in donker afrika or if customs will also add their bit..I am sure I am not the first person on here to have this issue.
