Hi Corne, Thanks for this - actually had the clutch guard twist which prevented me from getting power to the back wheel. Twisted it back and it was back to normal. After reading the report though I'm not sure if there is anything that can be done about this - bar removal of the hand guards completely?

Being informed is what is needed...now you will, like me keep an eye on them.It is more of a problem (if I am correct) with the 06 and earlier models with servo assisted brakes. This was my first 'problem' with my bike. Not being warned about this and other things, and finding out the hard way led me to posting so others may have an easier ride.

I burnt out my clutch at Klipbokop whilst doing the sand training. I dropped the bike, the guard slipped. Not knowing I put the thing in second thinking that the back wheel was spinning but it wasn't. The flipping clutch was busy burning out! R8K later and 6 weeks waiting. Now I check everytime the bike goes over. Be warned

Maybe have a dash light to show when the clutch or brake are engadged? Corné Kloppers http://www.bikepics.com/members/pantsula/07f650gs/ 0849130391 ckloppers@gmail.com

I think its good practice to first inspect your bike before you pull away again, you are not in a race, everyone has seen you go down so light up a smoke , walk around your bike, get someone to pick it up for you and enjoy the rest of your off-road adventure. Its also good practice to loosen all nuts and bolts on protruding parts to such an extend that it the bike has a side-stand issue the part swings around and does not break off. Just make sure that during normal use the parts stay in place. Good thing to do is put the thorx key in your pocket the first time you go out so minor adjustments can be done, you can save a klomp geld! (lot of money) I am talking about mirrors, driving lights, hand guards, clutch and break levers and the such! Do it today, maybe there is no tomorrow! Die malletjie
