Beginners Gravel road ride- Saturday 4th September 2010

SPRING HAS SPRUNG – THE CANOLA IS BLOOMING, THE OATS, BARLEY AND GRASSES ARE LUSH GREEN AND BECKON US HITHER…….

The BMWMCCC club has organised a gravel road ride for beginners and pillions Botriver to Greyton and back to Cape Town.

Meet            :  08H00 N2 outbound Exit 36  Engen 1-Stop just before Somerset west

You can break fast at the Wimpy as long as you are in riding trim by 08H00.

At 08H15, riders briefing, route plan and departure at 08H30.

We ride N2 though Sommies up Sir Lowry’s through Grabouw.

Over the Houhoek Pass through Bot Rivier and then hook right through Caledon.

All on tar.

Now we descend into the Hemel en Aarde Vallei on the gravel- Terslaarsdal road.

It’s a magnificent road and a very beautiful ride which pillions will just love as they are feasted to brilliant yellows and greens of the bread-bin of the Southern Cape.

After snaking upo to the N2 we cross and head up to lunch stop-Greyton.

After a relaxed lunch we ride out West on gravel to Robertson, Rawsonville and the Du Toit’s kloof pass and home.

This ride is suited to riders new to gravel roads, riders who often ride gravel and is pillion friendly.

Total distance is 310 kilometers 50% on gravel.

Back home at 16H30 – yeah right.

There will be a fee for the back up bakkie, lunch for own account.

a R50.00 fee for non club members. (club dues not paid or not registered).

There will be a back up bakkie following the bikes.

We have three riders trained in First Response with a medical kit.

Interested parties to mail Annie on anne@abarc.co.za or 082 4210003 to confirm attendance.

Ride Captain’s Andy Connell and Pete O’Hanlon will lead the ride with Annie riding sweep.

Annie n I each have room for one pillion, first come, first served.
