Hi

I was busy starting my bike when everything went off. No Power .i had been driving the whole day and never had any problems. I jumped the bike with a car and it started. When removing the jumpers it idles a bit then cut out. The EWS came up on the dash board. Could the battery be on its way out .Have other bikes have this happening before.

Need advice

Randy

Replace the battery.  If the problem persists it is the charger.  Since batteries fail, but chargers hardly ever fail, it is most likely the battery.

Do you have/use an Optimate trickle charger?  I use one to keep my bikes' batteries in good condition (it analyses the battery condition and runs a desulphating routine from time to time).

Hi Charles

I have my bike permanently on an Optimate 4. Sometimes for weeks ( like when i went on holiday).

I never had a problem as yet, but is there any "rule" as for how long you should or should not have it connected when standing in garage?

Before you replace the battery, check the alternator and regulator diodes.

Using an Optimate or C-Tech charger will tell you if the battery is ok though.

If you can dream it you can do it!
