Battery options for older Ks

I am in the process of fettling my 1986 K75S which has been standing in my garage for the past 5 years. Much of the routine maintenance has been completed, but I still need to source a battery. The recommended BMW battery retails at approx R1800; it's probably good, but definitely pricey and I'd be interested to know whether some members have tried other, cheaper options and with what results. If possible I'd like to source a sealed, maintenance-free battery that will fit the bike and handle the electrical demands posed by running the bike. During the week I came across info on the Net about the CSB Battery Company (Taiwan) some of whose products are imported into SA. So far I have identified 3 models of interest to me and I attach details of their specifications. The are not sold as motorcycle batteries per se but is there any reason why they shouldn't work well? I'd be interested to know if any member has experience of any of these.

Hi Mick

I had the same bike. A red one. So smooth and it just went.

I did replace the batery with a Panasonic one. But do not remember where I got it.

You can try AC Delco in Paarden Island. I got my batt for the GS from them.

Thanks for your reply. I just got a replacement battery a few days ago after following a lot of leads. I bought a Motobatt MCMB51814, which is a sealed Maintenance free AGM unit. The stockist is Stevens' Parts and Accessories in Cape Town. It has a 20AH capacity and fits a wide range of BMW bikes. Mick
