Hi All,
Please can someone let me know where the best place is in Cape Town to get a new battery for a F650GS?
Battery doeas not stay charged after a two day heavy duty 12 volt charge ?
Thanks.
Nic
Deltec in Paarden Eiland or Dixon Batteries (Bellville and Goodwood).
Nicholas....buddy....you are not riding enough!
also try Craigs in Parow.
My recommendation is don't mess around with the Deltecs and the Dixons of this world. Get yourself a Yuasa or Toplite gel or AGM batteryand insist that whoever has prepped it has placed it on a trickle charge of at least 10 hours once it has been filled with acid.
If you don't ride frequently then invest in an intelligent battery tender like an Optimate to keep your battery new for many years to come.
Trac Mac sell Toplite and (I think) Craig's do Yuasa. They're not cheap, but in this case, you get what you pay for.

I agree with Stan. I bought the Yuasa from Craigs. Cost me approx R700.
Great advice coming through. Thanks a million chaps.
Garth, i will be out there soon.......and you are correct, these bikes dont appreciatte the long wait during winter without a burn from time to time.
Can a Yuasa, Toplite gel or AGM battery really work for the 650's. I was told it gets to hot for gel batteries therefore we must use a "water" battery.
I need a new battery too after 5 years. Your input please as my next battery must last another 5 years.
Can we use a gel battery in a 650. Does it not overheat.
Need to buy a battery too but do not want a "water" one.
YT12CL Scorpion 12v - What do you think of this type of battery. Anyone used it before
