Back brake binding - comments?

Coming back from Elim we stopped in Bredasdorp for petrol. I spent a minute thinking whether I should fill up, then tried to move forward to the pump. The bike stalled! Re-started, let the clutch out and it stalled again. The bike would not move. Put it on the centre stand and the back wheel would not turn. Felt around, no excessive heat. Tried again and the wheel turned slowly, tried again and it spun freely. I normally only use the hand brake lever, I remember now that I touched the foot lever as I stopped. I posted this on K-Bikes.com and got this reply. "Happened to me three times in 14K miles. I am convinced that small rocks are jamming the return of the rear brake pedal. First time it happened I had ridden over 50 miles on a recently chip sealed road with lots of loose gravel, lightly applied the rear brake to make a slight bend and my rear brake hung up." We had just come off the newly tarred Elim road, is it possible that a stone was flung up and when I touched the pedal it jammed it? Putting it on the centre stand dislodged it. Comments would be appreciated. I told Padlangs over lunch that I cannot believe that I have done almost 5000km without having to speak to Shane :-)

Hi William, not sure what it could have been, considering I was at the back of the 5 bike trip coming home, I commented to my friend Jon on the Goldwing, that I actually had to drop way back on the new Elim Road as I was getting pelted with loose stones. So there could be some truth in the stone theory. Keep your feet on the pegs, and your hat on - Safe riding to all

I checked the lever, it does seem possible that a stone could fly up and lodge as I pressed the lever, if that is the case then the timing was spot on
