 Hi All.

Can anybody on the forum please advise on where to get a replacement anti fog liner for a System 6 BMW helmet except BMW dealerships. Are there after market parts available?

I have cleaned my visor only with BMW approved cleaners but can now hardly see through it. The anti fog liner is full of spots which cannot even be cleaned with distilled water. Just do not tell me to buy a new helmet please.

Jacques.

Jacques,

I am sure you will only get them from BMW.

Be aware that in my experience once you remove, clean and refit the inner anti fog liner it no longer performs it's anti fog purpose.

I have had a system 6 for many years and your problem has been the same as mine. I replace the visor about every 18 months or so.

Having said this up until a few weeks ago I had only used my system 5 helmet off road. I have had to "pension" the system 5 helmet off due to years of hard work. With all the dusty conditions I ride in I am sure that I will now have to replace the system 6 visor more often.

Yip. the visor get a dull yellowish tint after about 2 years.

Bought my new visor from BMW. What a difference it made.

Remove the dull "anti fog" layer on the old visor with a solvent and then use the clear visor during summer months.

Im listening... My System 6 visor was replaced within one week because it fogged between the two layers.

Current one still ok after 6 months, thanks for warning me about the 18 months life expectancy.

A final warning...........

If you buy a new system 6 visor (or complete helmet) inspect it carefully before you leave the Dealership as my last one came with specks of whatever (dirt) between the "visors". This meant that to clean it I would have had to remove the inner "fog" visor then put it back in place knowing full well that that was the end of its "anti fog" capability.

Thanks Geoff and all for the advise. Do not want to waste extra pension money. Can rather spend a few bucks in the club.

Ek het my "anti fog" liner uitgeruk al n jaar gelede, want ek kon niks sien nie. Veral in stof.

Ek kry bietjie wasem vroeg soggens in die helmet, maar dan lig ek die visor net een "kliek" op en probleem is opgelos binne sekondes.
