Just a reminder to the 72 active, certified event moto-marshals of the BMWMCC.

We are holding a training session to keep your LZ Landing Zone air support current. This is also training for the first time certified marshals who do the 12th July course.

Saturday 11 August.

07H30 to 11H00

Event moto-marshals are required to attend at least one of the four training session each year to keep their Air Support on the LZ currency valid.

The venue will be either Strandfontein Pavillion or Melkbos, TBA

There is no such thing as too much training.

Marshals have twice recently had to create and manage a safe LZ for an incoming HEMS helicopter during an outdoor sporting event.

If an accident occurs during an outdoor event that requires a helivac of the patient/s then a  responding HEMS chopper (Helicopter Emergency Medical service), will need a safe adhoc 'L-ZEE'- Landing Zone to land at if there is no official pad close to the incident.

Whether an adhoc or an official LZ, it needs ot be managed and kept safe, and may not be attended by personnel trained and authorised to do the task.

Our event moto-marshals train for this eventuality.

There are two HEMS in the Western Cape- AMS and Airborne24.
